One of the greatest Dallas Cowboys ever just announced his return to the NFL.
Jason Witten is a fan favorite and all Cowboy fans are celebrating today. All time Cowboys leader in receptions, reception yards, and third in reception touchdowns, the Cowboys’ offense just got a lot better. Throughout the season Witten sat out, it never felt like Dak had a safety blanket for a quick dump off or on third down.
Amari Cooper, Cole Beasley, and even Zeke became that much better in this offense because Witten brings another threat. Sure Geoff Swaim and Blake Jarwin were alright, but this is completely different. Witten may not be at the elite level he used to be at, but he will still be a threat. At the very least, he is a player that the defense is going to have to think about more than Swaim and Jarwin. That will either take a defender away from the other receiving threats or leave Witten open to make big plays.
In Witten’s year off from football, he attempted broadcasting. It did not go so well. He never really clicked with the rest of the MNF crew and sounded like a robot at some points. While he may of been compared to former teammate Tony Romo (who has turned into the best color guy in the game), he was still below average for what America wants in a color commentator.
Welcome back to the Cowboys, Jason. We missed you. It is a shame that you almost retired without a Super Bowl and are now coming back trying to win one. If only you had an old buddy that would consider the same thing...
